I thank you all for the overwhelmingly positive public and private posts I 
received on this subject. I seldom join rants but this one is important 
enough to me to get involved with. From the thoughful to the crude, you all 
have been very supportive. :-)

For those of you who think maybe I don't hike, our national packgoat 
association will be in Northern California hauling the remains of an old pot 
farm out of one of the wilderness areas near Lassen the end of this month. 
(Mostly equipment, we have been assured that there will be no pot.) All the 
local papers have been publishing photos of Lazlo the giant goat.  Our 
national rendezvous is here this year and we do a volunteer project every 
year as we go to different states and NF's every year.
