ATTN: HIKERS IN AGUA DULCE, CA. RESPECT is of the utmost... as a resident of
Agua Dulce, and Friend to the Saufleys (L-Rod) Donna/Jeff. I have been
helping out here and there. To the point I heard there was some fun with the
water... balloon fight and garden hose war, fun as It may be, HOT "no doubt"
Water in the desert is a precious commodity! The majority of water used at
this camp is primarily hauled in by truck and is "costly". Please be
respectful/mindful and don’t waste. Thanks Kary the REI shuttle ride

You could try craigslist.

Now that I think of it, last month when we did a section of the trail
southbound I found the Wilderness Press guide book to be very
difficult to follow. Some people, such as myself, actually like a
verbose description of the trail and prefer it to something more
terse. But the guide book is nearly impossible to follow backwards.
So you could re-write the book with a southbound perspective. This
might actually help more people choose to go south and maybe spread
out the herd a little bit.

A south-bound version of the PCT Guidebook would be a nice project, but I
suspect it would have a rather tiny target market.

The two most popular guides to the John Muir Trail both have route
descriptions and mileages going both north- and south-bound in the same
volume, but we're only talking about 212 miles vs. 2600.

"Guide to the John Muir Trail", by Thomas Winnett and Kathy Morey,
Wilderness Press, 2004.

"John Muir Trail", by Elizabeth Wenk and Kathy Morey, Wilderness Press,
2007.

Hi,

I'm a first-time poster and also an REI employee. I just wanted to let you
know that if you're not a member and don't have the receipt for the
backpack, REI will only be able to give you credit for the backpack's
current worth (which decreases periodically -- if your pack is a couple
years old, chances are you'll be getting a much smaller refund than what
what you originally paid). Also, REI's guarantee is only good for the life
of the product, so unless it's in good condition (which it sounds like
yours is), you could have some problems taking it back. It's definitely
worth a try, especially if you're a member, but you may end up getting a
better price for it online. Good luck!

CC

Asabat,

I am thankful for the volunteers that provide the forum and moderate, but
with that said, the topic of guns is WAY more pertinent to the PCT than many
of the sexist threads and jokes that certain old timers on this list
frequently submit.? There have been many requests to put a stop to these
topics but they seem to persist.

Frankly, the topic that Ned started was far my interesting in my opinion
than all that other crap that Switchback and Reinhold submit.

And since Brick moderates this particular list, he can do the same.

Thank you Ryan and Brick for providing this wonderful forum and for
keeping us on topic.

We are guests in the home.

In this case the home is virtual.

Just as I would not drink in a hostel that said "No drugs or alcohol", I'll
abide but what our hosts
(Ryan and Brick) have said.

Hopefully most of you will, too.

I agree with Elevator and you all.....
Actually I learned something about guns in the Parks etc that I did not know
before.
Cheers,

So controversial subjects like Constitutional rights are off topic, but
degrading jokes about sexually exploiting women are fine?
