One thing I learned from the trail is that it has a way of making you  
eat every single unkind word or thought you ever have about another  
person. So-and-so is an idiot because they did x-y-z. Then the next  
thing that happens is you find yourself doing something idiotic and  
life-threatening. Or So-and-so has a terrible personality and should  
be shunned. And then you notice how often you exhibit the same bad  
personality traits.

Never point fingers at someone because the trail always finds a way  
to point them back at you.
