One last comment on the subject of who we as the trail community are, as I see it. I've always thought that the ATC name change in reality changed the focus of who we are. I could be a part of a Conference. I'm not a part of the Conservancy. We have become who the people in the office thought we should be, not who we actually were and would like to be again. I don't see the word Conservancy saying anything about us. It's too nebulous. The Conference took in all the maintaining clubs, our opinions, the guys on the ground hiking, etc. It meant that we all had a part in what was happening. I no longer have that feeling. Instead of working together to make things happen, "we" are now too busy "conserving" the status quo. I don't see it as a living, breathing, growing entity anymore. The magazine is just an outward reminder of the difference.
