I saw Tom do his presentation about 30 minutes or so from Hanover, just a
couple of days before the ALDHA Gathering back in 2001(Warren Doyle's famous
Poor Poor America poem year).  I told him about ALDHA and he only was able
to show up at the campground on Friday afternoon as he was heading off to
Burlington for guard training that weekend.  I told John O about him and
John had him on the schedule for 2003 or 2005 I believe, but he ended up
getting sent off to Afghanistan before the Gathering so we never got a
chance to see him do his around the world walk presentation at the
Gathering.

The presentation he did when I saw him was one of the most laid back
presentations I've seen anyone do.  He started in Pomfret at his house and
the second slide you saw was of a white blaze as he planned to follow the AT
north to ME.  When he showed his mid to late April shot from Mt. Washington
he said the guys at the observatory told him it was best  if he got off the
AT due to the ice snow conditions so he headed on down for the road and
continued on to Maine and points beyond from there.
