If you are creating a ratio between what you were paid at the time and the
gas prices at the time vs your income now and gas prices now you are
creating a false analogy especially since your were in the military at the
time and they are chronically underpaid. When I joined the Army in 1964 I
was paid $90/month. I suspect you are worth a lot more as an employee now
than you were as cannon fodder back then.
I wish I were going hiking this weekend but I have other commitments and it
is still cold in NNY. Minus 6 degrees this morning. Brrrrrrrrrrr!
