Your figures are off Skylander. I just ran a comparison on the Bureau of
Labor Statistics Inflation calculator <http://stats.bls.gov/> and click on
"Inflation Calculator". When I got married in 1966 regular gas was 23¢/gal.
If gas had gone up only as much as inflation, regular gas today would be
$1.50/gallon but regular gas around here is $3.50/gallon and according to
the news will be going up about 16¢/gallon in the next week or two. If our
gas goes to $8/gallon Bermudans will be paying $14-16.

Side note: If minimum wage had gone up in relation to inflation it would now
be $8.15/hr.
