Ah, that makes sense, much more logical. I think the solution for the end of the hike is to sell the extra car to a one-car-hiker who is just starting their thru hike in the opposite direction. :)

Park one car at A. Park second car at B. Hike from B to A. Drive car
to C. Hike from C to B. Drive car to D. hike from d to C. Repeat ad
infinitum. Once you get the two cars in their initial positions, you
simply keep leap-frogging them until you're done. Then, of course, you
need help getting the second car home.
