Transportation question--

Gutsy is planning a 2-3 wk hike on the AT in VA in June.? She wants to start in the vicinity of Buena Vista and end at Harper's Ferry.

The question:? what would be a good arrangement for bus and/or train transportation to the trailhead?? 

One option we are considering?is bus to Roanoke and car shuttle to the trailhead.? If necessary, I will drive her from?home (upper SC)?to Buena Vista.? For the return we are considering Amtrak from Harper's Ferry to Greenville.
