[at-l] suggestions for a two week hike?

Delee and I are aiming to take two weeks to hike in September.  I'm  
having trouble deciding where to go.  I haven't done southern virginia  
or pretty much anything north of MD.  The Whites are out because I  
don't want to kill Delee.  I'm dubious about PA with its rocky  
reputation.

A not-too-far drive from DC or a good public transportation would be a  
plus.

Suggestions?  What would YOU do with this opportunity?
