Tuesday morning at 7, I was reading the outside temperature to be 28 
degrees when the weatherman on our local station announced that the 
temperature on top of Cannon Mountain - across Franconia Notch from 
Mt Lafayette - was 55 degrees.  People were skiing at Gunstock 
wearing shorts and tank tops as the temps topped 55 degrees at the 
ski area.  I ditched my coat, gloves and long underwear to ski in my 
fleece.  You could almost see the snow disappear on the summit of Mt 
Washington.  Wednesday it rained in all of NH.  Thunderstorms passing 
through the area made the mountain close the lifts temporarily to 
avoid frying any skiers.  Can you believe people actually wanted take 
ski lessons in the rain?  Oh ya! You guys are hikers.  You do it in 
the rain.  Anyway, our four feet of snow is reduced to 8 inches of 
ice.  Skiing is very fast and it's raining again today - Friday.  The 
Sun is suppose to come out tomorrow - sounds like a song.  Another 
snow storm is expected Sunday Night into Monday.  I hope so I hate 
skiing on ice!!!
