You can actually set this up on many, possibly most,
sections of the AT.  It's just a matter of making
phone calls to the B&B operators and shuttlers in the
section you want to do it on.

In PA I ran into a trail maintainer, a retired man,
who was section hiking the whole thing with his wife. 
They were slacking and shuttling bit by bit.  He said
he was going to write a book:  "Hiking the AT on $400
a Day."
