According to the below article Gran-Ma Soule "nearly became" the oldest
woman to thru-hike the trail.

The ATC site lists Grandma Gatewood as the oldest. She was 69 when she did
her last thru-hike and 74 when she completed her third AT hike as a section
hike.

Like eArThworm, I haven't heard of Poka Dot (or Polka Dot) before. If this
hiker is the oldest woman to thru she did it as a stealth hike. I'm sure if
she had reported the hike to the ATC and was older than Grandma Gatewood,
they would have noticed.
