My grandma was the source of most of my "Clydeism's" that folks take for southern sayings. I always looked at her a little funny when she would say "It's hotter than a June bride in a feather patch". The one I liked the best was "Don't complain about your shoes, look around and you'll find someone without no feet".

Happy Birthday, Junie Moon....
Happy Birthday indeed. Eighty-seven is quite an accomplishment. I'd love
to pick her brain about her childhood.
Not having any surviving grandparents (I only met one and he died when I
was a wee lad), I envy those with the opportunity to hear first hand the
stories of bygone eras.
Grandma is unique in that most of her stories are of the future. That and cooking. She's the best damned cook that ever lived...and, she's never prepared a meal that she liked. Now, her recently-deceased husband, and my recently-deceased grandfather, Peb...HE was the story teller. Occasionally there was even a true one.
