[at-l] Gathering

Well, Art,

I second what Skeeter said about the Gettysburg venue.

The ballroom was huge and held all. The camping was spacious, with room for
everyone's preferences - party/campfire, peace and quiet, even high-tension
electrical re-charging (well, in my defense, I selected my campsite in the
dark!). There was a little coffee shop down the hall from the ballroom, and
folks would often lounge there for a quieter chat. The local diners were
fast, charming, delicious and cheap.

The weather was another star, temps warm, and it couldn't have been
prettier. The leaves are starting to turn. I collected lots of hugs, and
sold a book or two.

I was self-confined to the ballroom selling the book, so I never made it to
any of the presentations ( ;-((( ) but I heard only good things about those
facilities and speakers. My only regret - I wished I could tour the
battlefields, and now I learn that next year I can.

I drove up with Marta, who was excellent company, and we raided the farm
stands on the way home for crunchy/juicy Pennsylvania apples, fall ourds,
cider and jams. We saw some Mennonite teenagers in an Arby's bathroom
changing from their prim, long Sunday skirts and caps to jeans and
tee-shirts, giggling the whole time before hopping into their family's truck
and driving off.

I was to tired to party this year, with the drive and the energy output. I
hope to take an extra day next year, drive up on a Thursday. Now, looking
forward to the Ruck.\

The really good news from the Gathering is that everything went very
smoothly for the first time at a new location.
We met with the representative from the college on Sunday afternoon, and she
was quite happy. Personally I was thrilled with the college!
