If you buy the hard cover books by Rite-in-the-Rain (the manufacturer of the
journals Kooters is selling) yes they are heavy, but Rite-in-the-Rain makes
softcover versions & spiral bound as well that are much lighter. They even
make loose leaf versions. You could carry just pages and stick them into a
binder upon returning home.Try a Google search on "Rite in the Rain" and
you'll find sources for non-hardbound ones. Backpacking light lists one at <
http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/rite_in_the_rain_horizontal.html>
that is 0.7 oz.
