It wasn't meant to be aimed at you, Felix. I've been pretty quiet here for many months. I was really thinking of White Blaze, where I've done my most fervent begging, because it has the most members. I don't need all 10 fingers to count all those who have contributed. I keep trying because some of these have contributed significant amounts. And besides, I'm an equal opportunity beggar on behalf of the trail. It's a wonderful feeling to have helped save a mountain. I do my best to encourage others to share that feeling.

It's not fun begging for money, just as it is not always fun maintaining a trail. <<snip>> I can ignore the change, or try to raise the money needed to protect a few key sections. I've chosen the latter.
I guess my question is...can't organizations ask 'new' people for money instead of asking people who just gave to give more? I donated money to a breast cancer walk one time and in the 'thank you' note they sent there was a 'give more' donation form/envelope.
Most of the money won't come from hikers -- even those that like to tell us far more often than we ask for money how they love the trail and how important the trail is to them.
Boy, that sure seems like a shot at me.
