I am trying to figure out where to hike on my first vaction in over 14 months... I have 5 days off in Mid-July and here are a couple of my thoughts...

AT in Virgnia (thinking the roller coaster)
Quehanna Trail in Pennsylvania (using the eastern cross connect to cut it to 50 miles)
Black Forest Trail in Pennsylvania - this is a whopper!
Various overnight hikes in the Adirondaks - New York

  What do you all think?

Petites Gap road intersects with the AT in sight of the Blue Ridge
Parkway. Northbound on the AT it is 10 miles to the James River and
routes 501 / 130 (Big Island / Glassgo). There is an AT parking area
there and along the Petites Gap road there are several areas used by car
campers. Other trails that intersect along this road are the Glenwood
Horse trail, Sulpher Springs trail, and the Belfast Trail (Devils Marble
Yard). All these trails connect with the AT.

Also please take note of this recent vandalism in the Bland area.

Charles.
Just wanted to drop you a note and tell you I was up near and around
Woods Hole in Giles County over the weekend.
Colleen (my wife) Tim Ligon (Bburg native)and I did the section from
Bland to Woods Hole on the AT over the weekend.
We meet allot of through hikers and had fun doling out trail magic.
The bad news is when we got to our car above Woods Hole it had be
vandalized.
We had parked it in the saddle of SR 663 and Forest Service Road 201.
Someone had rammed it with a much larger vehicle, possibly a pick up
truck, blue in color.
The damage was intentional and it destroyed the front hood and grill of
Colleens white Toyota Tercel.
The car was not broken into, and nothing was stolen.
It was drivable, but put a damper on the trip.
Would you please put a message out to other club members so they can
consider the event when parking in the area.
Also I cut a few lite blow downs with a hand saw along the section,
otherwise the trail looks good.
Have a good day.
