Brona just called and asked me to post this informtion:
While hiking in to Damascus from Groseclose with the goats, they left their Toyota Takoma and their camping trailer in the parking lot at Damascus, where the police had assured them that it was safe.
When they got to Damascus, they found that both had been stolen. Unfortunately, neither the pickup nor the trailer nor the trailer's contents were insured (except for liability).
The trailer contained all of the camping gear as well as all the money they had stashed away for their trip to Ohio and elsewhere following Trail Days.
She is having a hard time with this. Her voice still had the sound of someone who is quite stunned. She said that they will not be at Trail Days. For some reason they have a bad taste in their mouths about Damascus.
They were told that there is a ring that is operating in the vicinity, especially interested in Toyota Tacomas. In fact the pickup was stolen one night and the trailer, a couple of nights later. If you have a Tacoma, she wants you to know this.
Both Brona and Thomas had been laid off, which was why they could take this trip. That makes is particularly bad. Of course, they still have their SUV and the goats' little trailer, which they had left at Elk Garden. Go figure.
In Estes Park there would have been a money-raising event to help them replace what they can. It would have been at one of the watering places. Do you think we should put one of those together to help them out? [I did not mention this passing thought to her.]
Now, at their request. I must send this along to Skeeter and to Red Wolf.
