true, and I have dealt with the child who did not want to do anything! 
Luckily I got to know this girl fairly quickly and called her bluff. My 
response to her was well then since you dont want to do anything, we can 
call your mom to come and pick you up so you can do nothing at home. She 
quickly stoped dragging her heels and joined in. I know that this is really 
not that practical when your on the trail but a series of hikes working up 
to the multi day hike would help prepare the boys for what to expect and 
also what is expected of them. Its not the typical car camp anymore.

Yeah the boys would see this as embarassing, the girls OMG did this one week 
long camp and it turned into camp site idol they started loosing things on 
purpose. we canned camp idol rather quick and the girls chose instead 1) do 
nothing just take your stuff away 2)spell with your but the item that you 
lost.(move your ass, hips and knees)  I lost my hat once and had to but 
spell "hat" One girl caught it on her digital camera's video. So if you see 
some young gal Leader in uniform spelling (what turned into an entire 
paragraph) while standing on a picknic table, yeah thats probibly me.

We (CGG) used to be little house keepers too, but in the 90's Boy Scouts of 
Canada became Scouts Canada and allowed girls to join, becoming completely 
co-ed. And hence became the who is more adventurous to try and capture 
girl's membership. Now if only that change happened 10 years earlier then I 
could have done more as a girl instead of as a leader.
