I ran into him in NC a couple years ago in the fall.  He said he had quit his job in New England and was on the trail to get away from materialistic values and so forth.  I was heading north on a section hike, and he was heading south.  Before we parted he mentioned that he didn't have enough food.  I had just enough to last my section, so didn't offer him any.  Hope he finally sees the light and gets saved.

There are all kinds of people on the AT which reflects the fact that there  
are all kinds of people wherever we go.
