There is an article in the Apri 2007 issue of Backpacker about the guy on  
the AT a couple of years ago who was pretty mixed up,  He took the trail  name 
"Saved" after meeting a friend of mine from college days in Hewitt,  NJ.  Dan 
Nicholls extended a helping hand to him and yet the guy couldn't  stop stealing 
along the trail.  
 
There are all kinds of people on the AT which reflects the fact that there  
are all kinds of people wherever we go.
