[at-l] "SlackPack"

Generally speaking, slackpacking is hiking portions of the trail without
carrying your pack. Slackpacking may involve having someone bring your pack
from one town to the next while you hike. Or it may mean that it's possible
to hitch to the same town from road crossings at either end of the
slackpacked sections. There are plenty of ways for people to slackpack.

Some use the term in a derogatory manner believing that "pure" thruhiking
involves carrying all of ones gear the entire way. Others attach no
negative meaning to the term and prefer the freedom of movement it can
provide. Of course, with the freedom of movement comes the loss of the
freedom to stop and camp wherever you please. Without your full pack, you
may be limited by having to get to a road crossing to meet your ride to town
or your pack if it's being dropped off.
