[at-l] Snow, snow snow

I could see Mt Washington in brilliant sunlight shrouded in snow at
10:00 AM today from the top of Gunstock Mountain in the Lakes Region
of NH. A couple of hours later it disappeared in the overcast. I
took a break from teaching skiing at 12:45 PM. At 1:15 I noticed it
had begun to snow. By 2:00 PM there was an inch of snow on the
ground. I left the area about 2:30 and there was 3 inches of new
snow on the ground by 4:00 PM when I got home. We are expecting a
bigger storm on sunday. Last year at this time the temps were in the
50's during the day. We didn't see our first snow until late
January. And the lakes did not freeze over until the beginning of
February. There were snow machines on the edge of our lake this past
weekend. I may be able to walk across the lake before Christmas this
year. Last winter we had so little snow that my septic system froze
solid and i had to go to a campground to take may daily showers and
use the laundry. Should be fine this year. Will probably have a
cover of snow on the ground until late March. Maybe I will have time
to mix some snow shoeing into my winter schedule.
