She loved bacon indeed, not so much the bacon itself, but the benefits it brought.  The more bacon she made in the back seat of those jalopies, the faster she got down the trail and the more creature comforts she could enjoy.  Grandma may have been a yeller blazer, but she was no fool and was resourceful as hell.
