I must admit the Nalgene situation took me by
surprise. Didja know the bottles have gotten heavier
over the years?

The old style polyethylene bottles (ca. 1989) weigh 3.8 oz.
Those newfangled polycarbonate (shiny) ones weigh 6.1 oz!

Ditching 16 oz of Nalgene for a 2-qt. platy and a
soda bottle was the easiest (and cheapest) weight
savings I've obtained so far.

OTOH, it never ever occurred to me to carry a strap
for my camera while hiking.
