I joined ATL sometime around 1995 or 96.
I talked to a lot of people & found out about this great hiker get together 
called a 
"Gathering". It was in Carlisle, PA that year, at a high school.  That was my 
first 
Gathering, and I found out a lot about hiking, and thru hiking in 
particular... I caught
the bug there (thanks to Jim & Ginny!) ...
The rest is history.
