John Brinda was the first to hike what we call the ECT in 1996. Nimblewill Nomad, a much less reticent fellow than John, was the second in 1997. I don't see Scott's name on the list of IAT thru hikers (of course, that doesn't mean he didn't do it).

Scott tried about 4 times to yo-yo the PCT before doing it not too long ago.
This would be the 2nd time he's done it. Usually new snow in the Sierra on
the southbound leg stopped him. I had the chance to meet him at a western
gathering, he's a soft spoken, unassuming guy. If I'm not mistaken he's
hiked all the AT and CDT and may have been the 1st to attempt the so-called EDT

from Key West.

NY Times did an article in the back of the business section on Scott
Williamson, 34, who is trying to be the first to do a S-N-S yo-yo hike of
the
PCT in one year. That is, go south to north and then turn around and go back
to Mexico. He has hiked the PCT 8 times after being shot in the face in a
7-11
robbery and taking a new perspective on life. The article said he has done
parts of the AT and CDT as well. Williamson has become a PCT legend, drawing
crowds in Trail towns.
