8 years ago tonight, Pokey and I were gettin' eatin' alive by mosquitoes 
at Antlers Campsite. We still had a beautiful evening watching the moon 
rise over the silhouettes of pine trees across the lake. Loons laffed at 
us and geese serenaded us. It was our first night alone. The previous 
night we camped on the beach of Nahmakanta Lake with Trailnameless Tom, 
a buddy of mine who gave us a ride to Katahdin and hiked the first 5 
days with us. Has it really been 8 years? Has it?
